Gelato heaven

While in Italy, the morning and afternoon were not complete without ice cream. Delicious... oh, how we missed it once we arrived home.

A true city on a hill

Dating back to the 11th century (some say older) is the picturesque Orvieto, standing notably filled with history. With underground tunnels and stairs in order to escape this elevated fortress in times of trouble and with the lovely cobbled walkways, faded painted arches and narrow pretty streets - a favourite stop.

Memories are painted everywhere.

Filled window boxes overflowed from above.

Driving our car through the narrow streets was an adventure.

Rome

We kept imagining Romans from biblical times walking where we walked, with the magnificent Colosseum in the background.

Peter the Brave

I wonder at this man, this change...

I wonder at the mercy of God...

From the fearful denial in Mark 14 to the faith filled words in Acts 2, where God's truth and mercy is multiplied in the souls of many.

May we have a heart like Peter's.

Onto Vatican City

This part was profoundly moving... its crazy beautiful and full of wonder. I didn't know what to do with myself...

It seemed so right to kneel in a quiet corner in St Peters.

First stop Verona

I have been to the land of far, far away... where it is not cold but every day is full of blue skies and hot sunshine. And the only agenda is to take it all in... all the rich history, the wonderful food, and to generally slow down the pace.

It all began in Verona... and celebrating the last single digit birthday!!

at the city wall...

Beauty and history on every corner...
