A little random rattle on Friday... I decided to have a fringe cut yesterday and today's I'm already thinking maybe not the best idea. But I'm telling myself, 'it's hair, it grows', so I won't wring my hands about it.

A powerful beckoning
As he (my father) had covenanted with God to saturate himself in His Book, so he sought to teach us to love it. No one can make a child love anything, from spinach to sparrows to Scripture, but the parents' love for things exerts a powerful thrust in that direction.
Because we heard the majestic cadences of the Bible read to us day after day, year in and year out, at home and in church and Sunday school and the Christian institutions we all attended, we learned, finally, to love the Bible, in spite of all the years when we shrugged and sighed and rolled our eyes and poked each other under the table and generally appeared to ignore what was supposed to be going on.

Eisteddford 2013
I am so glad that all the Eisteddford presentation's are over. The kids enjoy it and don't seem to be nervous or notice the long wait - those appear to be parental problems.

I wrote a letter to my love...
To be honest, it was many text messages. Wayne has travelled abroad twice for work this month which feels very looooong to me but... happy day... he arrives home today!!
He gave me this sweet mug before he left...

The best meal of the day - day 2
Another great breakfast and good as a brunch item for a crowd.
Basically, its just phyllo pastry, bacon (cooked & chopped), grated cheese and I crack the eggs straight into the prepared phyllo (making sure it doesn't run out) and fold quickly over the top and pinch / fold the ends and bake for about 30-35 minutes.

Lentil Meatball Sub
I didn't miss the meat. The buns were grilled, one side with a liberal amount of mozzarella. Crispy "meatballs" were added and then topped with a chunky homemade tomato sauce. I'm not saying that Wayne didn't miss the meat but we all agreed that it was tasty nonetheless.

A good start
This morning I received three bits of good news back-to-back.
But before that I was praying and trying to still my heart, thanking God in advance... knowing that it was going to be a challenging morning.
When Rebecca awoke, I told her "Baby, its gonna be a great day!"
"I will not take My lovingkindness from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail. My covenant I will not break nor alter the word that has gone from My lips" ~ Psalm 89.33+34
This is one of my favourite scriptures and I was meditating on His great faithfulness this morning and trusting Him for the day ahead.
Then came the good news... and more good news.
As I was driving I felt so blessed by His merciful kindness and I said 'Lord, you are so good... how we forget!'
Some days we read the Word and pray regardless of how we feel... we might feel nothing. Always continue in faith because regardless of what we feel - He is real. Then there are days... don't you love these... when the reality of his love and affection stirs us deeply and we are so humbled by it.
And on top of all that, my house guest (my sister) received an unexpected package in the mail which I placed on her tea tray. She was all smiles this morning!

Every now and then
she still spreads all her Salvanians around her and has a fantasy filled afternoon with all the little families.
Love the Salvanian's home with its working lights... see Mr Bunny's ears in the doorway.

In the August garden
The beetroot is growing and it looks so pretty with its dark-veined leaves.
Lovely peppery rocket.
The indispensable Parsley
The faithful Cape Gooseberry... with its lovely lantern-shaped houses
holding our beautiful tart berries.

Drop by drop
'We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop'
