Home from USA
Wayne arrived home on Friday, exhausted after all the travelling and time differences, he
wanted to chat when I was sleepy and vice versa... he did bring us treats though! My favourite
is the Bourbon Vanilla Coffee. Smells heavenly.
He was away for almost two weeks and he missed home, but he met
up with old friends, Ben & Jerry. That helped.
A willingness to do so...
"The Greek word for submission, hupotasso, means to place oneself under the authority of another. This does not involve coercion but rather a willingness to take who and what God made you and submit it to the authority of another: in a man’s case, to God; in a woman’s case, to God and to her husband. It is the lack of submission by a man that generally leads to the lack of submission by a woman."

The tremendous impact of unity
Listen to Bono's address on the global fight against extreme povety - on the impact it has had and the dream it could be, in unity. Yes, the fight must be strong and it must be global. One can do something but many can do much.

Dolly's favourite time of day
She opened the windows and doors, letting in the fresh morning air scented still with Stocks and damp grass. It was Dolly's favourite time of day, when the world was cool and quiet, and the day full of hope.
She thought she heard a sound above. Emily might be stirring. She made the tea, and found an unusually pretty porcelain cup, given long ago to her mother, for Emily's tea.

Grant that I...
“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy"
~ St Francis of Assisi
The words from this prayer have been floating around in my head for days upon days... it's easy to throw the poetry from my lips but it's another thing for it to become truth within, and then (hopefully, hopefully it becomes your commom response) seep out into conduct...

Summer watermelon salad
A delicious salad in the heat that we have had in the Cape! This time I added olives which I think made it better, with a sweet and salty combination. A easy Lemon Mustard vinaigrette and all is happy.
Whisk all together in a bowl for the vinaigrette:
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup olive oil

These days
Alessia's 6th birthday... the kids (and parents) had so much fun on the toboggan track.

A lazy weekend breakfast prepared by Rebecca (notice the creased table cloth she chose - it actually made it all the sweeter) - its great to have an extra cook at home...
Rye rolls, eggs with cheese and fruit salad.
